Job Title: Social Services Specialist

This role focuses on delivering high-quality social work services to patients, families and carers within the hospital and local health district setting.

The Social Services Specialist can exercise independent professional judgment on routine matters and may require direct supervision for novel, complex, or critical tasks.

Responsibilities include assisting in the development of policies, procedures, standards and practices, as well as participating in quality improvement activities, departmental committees, and potentially clinical research activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver social work services to patients, families and carers.
  • Exercise independent professional judgment on routine matters.
  • Assist in policy and procedure development.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities.
Essential Requirements:
  • A degree in Social Work with eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
Desirable Skills:
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in discharge planning, NDIS, child protection, domestic violence, grief and bereavement.
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues associated with working with culturally and linguistically diverse client groups.
  • Well-developed time management skills with excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance and/or clinical practice improvement activities.
