Job Role Overview

The Operations Manager - Commercial Real Estate is responsible for leading the daily performance of our property operations team.

This role is ideal for a results-driven leader who enjoys coaching, clear communication, and driving accountability.

The successful candidate will help team members grow professionally, ensure follow-through on key initiatives, and deliver high service standards for our tenants and clients.

Success in this role requires a structured and supportive leader who can build trust, enforce consistency, and respond quickly to operational needs across multiple property types.

  • Team Leadership & Oversight
  • Provide daily leadership, training, and accountability to the operations team, ensuring expectations are clear and met.
  • Monitor individual and team performance; offer regular coaching and support.
  • Participate in the hiring, onboarding, and development of new operations staff.
  • Evaluate responsiveness and professionalism in tenant and client interactions.
  • Conduct property visits to support team members and ensure service standards are upheld.
  • Operational Execution
  • Guide the operations team in managing inspections, work orders, capital repairs, tenant improvements, and vendor services.
  • Ensure consistent execution of operational procedures, such as project scheduling and budgeting, contract approvals, emergency preparedness protocols, preventative maintenance planning, address and escalate operational issues promptly and effectively.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration
  • Partner with Accounting and Sales to align operational priorities.
  • Attend department, leadership, and asset management meetings to maintain team-wide alignment.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting
  • Track completion of recurring responsibilities: work order reviews, vendor coordination, tenant communication, and capital project progress.
  • Hold staff accountable for meeting deadlines, budget accuracy, and client service expectations.
  • Support review and analysis of budgets, property financials, and variance reports.
  • Compliance & Vendor Management
  • Oversee RCA contract templates and approval protocols.
  • Ensure vendor compliance with onboarding requirements (insurance, W-9, COI).
  • Maintain readiness for scheduled and after-hours coverage, including emergency drills.

Key Qualifications:

  • 35 years of experience in a property operations or team leadership role (preferably in commercial real estate or facilities).
  • Proven ability to lead teams, enforce accountability, and coach for performance improvement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; professional, approachable, and assertive when needed.
  • Working knowledge of property operations workflows (e.g., inspections, service coordination, receivables/payables).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, SharePoint), Yardi, and CRM systems.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and follow-up skills.
