About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join our team at Auto & General. As a key member of our Cloud Services team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and enhancing tooling and processes to automate the deployment of software development and infrastructure as code across our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Implement Automation Foundation: Consistently contribute to the design and implementation of automation foundations, standards, and practices for the Security team, drawing on knowledge of DevOps/Cloud industry practices and frameworks.
  • Code Review and Guidance: Review and provide guidance on code from DevOps engineers to ensure that all quality and compliance controls and guidelines are consistently followed.
  • Drive and Support Product/ Data Teams: Drive and support product/data teams in developing design projects, guiding and building capability with DevOps engineers within product teams through the sharing of knowledge and experience, active training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Consult with Stakeholders: Consult with project and non-technical stakeholders to identify requirements, risks, and reports to achieve a business outcome.
  • Participate in Agile Practices: Participate in the Product team/Security team's agile practices to efficiently decompose business requirements to clear deliverables and to ensure delivery of stakeholder outcomes for responsible portfolios.
  • Contribute to DevOps Community: Contribute to the DevOps community of practice through knowledge sharing and fostering engagement and collaboration.
  • Drive Implementation of DevOps/Cloud Automated Solutions: Drive implementation of DevOps/Cloud automated solutions in project delivery.
  • Collaborate with Application Development Teams: Collaborate directly with Application Development Teams to align and influence DevOps practices that enable faster delivery and effective maintenance of cloud infrastructure.
  • Contribute to Migrations and Development of New Solutions: Contribute to the migrations of existing solutions and development of new solutions following the Cloud Services technology roadmap.
  • Establish and Maintain Relationships: Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders through regular communication to manage agreed outcomes, concerns, risks, and issues.
  • Support Cloud Services Team Members: Support other Cloud Services team members in the support and troubleshooting of cloud services, security, and infrastructure.

Technical Skills

  • Cloud Platform Design: Expertise in building and designing cloud platforms/solutions that enable rapid delivery of high-quality software.
  • e2e Automation: Proficiency with e2e automation with infrastructure as Code (Iac) (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation).
  • Programming Languages: Experience developing high-quality code in (Golang, Python, Bash shell).
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with building and maintaining sophisticated CI/CD pipelines & automation with tools like (Gitlab, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Jenkins, SonarQube, etc).
  • DevOps Function: Proficiency in driving DevOps function in software design and development.
  • Git and Branching Strategy: Experience with git and implementing branching strategy, and release process.
  • Containerization and Serverless Architecture: Experience with scaling containers (docker) and serverless architecture.
  • AWS Cloud Solutions: Experience in implementing and design of AWS cloud solutions in a commercial enterprise environment.
  • Observability: Experience in Observability in complex distributed systems (New Relic).
  • Security DevOps Practices: Experiences implementing security DevOps practices.
  • Effective Communication: Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate well within a team.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and decompose complex problems down into sprint deliverables in projects.

Bonus

Strong Security, Software engineering background, and exposure to large language models is an advantage.
