Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Cloud Architect with a proven ability to transform technical requirements into detailed cloud infrastructure designs. This role demands both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills to design effective solutions and communicate them clearly to all IT stakeholders.
Position Accountabilities:Design and Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain secure cloud architectures in AWS.Standardisation: Establish principles, practices, and patterns to standardise secure architectural approaches across AWS, Azure, and GCP.Continuous Improvement: Regularly review the overall coherence of the architectural approach across clouds, manage technical debt, and identify opportunities for improvement.Service Templates: Create service templates for core hygiene elements of cloud deployments.Mentorship: Mentor and guide DevOps and Engineering teams on robust cloud architecture practices, identifying areas for enhancement.Collaboration: Work closely with the Infosec team to ensure best practices and leverage AWS services for the highest security standards.Architecture Evaluation: Conduct architecture evaluations and collaborate with project management and IT stakeholders to refine existing architectures.Technical Comparison: Compare technical options to select the best fit for the organisation.Detailed Designs: Provide detailed technical architecture designs encompassing the Technology domain (BDAT) following the TOGAF architecture framework.Emerging Technologies: Continuously research emerging technologies to keep the company ahead of the competition.
Qualifications and Experience: Qualifications: AWS Associate Architect certification required.AWS Professional Architect certification is an advantage.Azure or GCP Architect certification is an advantage.MSc in an IT-related field is an advantage.TOGAF certification is an advantage. Experience: Minimum of 5 years in Cloud Technology.Insurance industry experience is advantageous.Fundamental understanding of infrastructure, network, and cloud platforms, ideally AWS and network security, modern software development practices (CI/CD, DevSecOps), and identity and access management capabilities.Demonstrated experience in Network Architecture and Security.Experience with large-scale integration programmes and/or in blue-chip organisations, especially from a tooling and methodology perspective.More than one year of experience in Data and Martech related technologies is advantageous. Skills: Excellent stakeholder management.Superior oral and written communication skills.Strong in-depth analysis and modelling skills.Effective risk identification and management skills.Customer-oriented with the ability to understand how different parts of business operations are interconnected.Ability to provide technical advice to management and engineering teams regarding IT architecture, infrastructure, and cloud development.
