Senior Project Manager Job Description

We are seeking a talented individual to join our transformation team. This role can be based in Melbourne or Sydney.

This is a hybrid position that requires working at least three days a week in the office.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead comprehensive project planning, ensuring tasks, timelines, and resource requirements are clearly defined and communicated to stakeholders.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders to gather requirements, provide timely updates, and address concerns throughout the project lifecycle. Foster strong relationships for project success and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Identify potential risks and issues impacting project delivery. Collaborate with the project team to develop effective mitigation strategies and contingency plans, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver regular status updates on project delivery, highlighting progress, challenges, and next steps to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, aligning it with the established project delivery framework to facilitate transparency and accountability.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, fostering their development and enhancing the overall capability of the project team.

The Senior Project Manager will be accountable for successful project delivery, focusing on risk transformation for Mercer Super. They will implement the risk management framework and establish appropriate controls, policies, and compliance measures.

This position is crucial to a regulator-mandated risk transformation program. The individual will oversee the entire project lifecycle, playing a pivotal part in significant risk transformation initiatives while enhancing project management skills in a fast-paced and highly regulated environment.

Requirements:
  • At least 5 years as dedicated project manager or business/administration analyst with client projects/fund installations experience.
  • At least 5 years within the superannuation industry: Insurance or banking experience considered.
  • Demonstrable project management & delivery skills.
  • Excellent planning and communication skills.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and management skills.
  • Strong technical understanding of superannuation, including defined benefit plans, pensions, and insurance.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite, particularly MS Project.
  • Ability to work closely with others, demonstrating energy, enthusiasm, and confidence.
