About Us

The Sydney Conservatorium of Music's Open Academy is seeking three Community Program Co-ordinators to provide administrative support for short courses, workshops and music lessons for children, students, musicians, music educators, and the community at large. This role may entail duties outside regular hours and on weekends.

We are committed to promoting community music-making and offer numerous short courses and lessons designed to provide adults and children with the skills and knowledge to pursue their musical interests, curiosity, or find a creative outlet for their talents in a collaborative group learning or individual environment catering to beginners right through to experienced musicians.

Key responsibilities include coordinating classes, events and lessons, providing administration and production support for our short courses, workshops, festivals and individual lessons, undertaking promotion of our programs, addressing inquiries from staff, students, visitors, and the public through phone, email, and in-person interactions relating to courses and events.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a range of cultural events with varying requirements and timelines successfully.
  • An ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in handling a wide range of inquiries and providing excellent customer service.
  • Advanced computer skills and experience including database management, Microsoft Office and Adobe Suites and CMS website management systems.
  • Possess a music-related tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience in a community, performing arts, or adult education environment.
