Job Description

Emergency Response Training Specialist

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in designing, developing and delivering emergency response training programs that meet contractual requirements. They will be responsible for creating comprehensive training programs to equip emergency responders with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond effectively in emergency situations.

  1. Designing and delivering training programs that ensure emergency responders are equipped with the required skills and knowledge to respond effectively in emergency situations.
  2. Developing departmental-specific curriculum guidelines aligned with national legislation, best practices and program implementation.
  3. Supporting the development of assessment tools to ensure ongoing skills and competency maintenance.
  4. Creating methods and assessment tools for recognizing prior learning and their application criteria.
  5. Contributing to the development of training curriculum, learning guides and assessment procedures at state and national levels for emergency response topics.
  6. Overseeing the Fire Development Program and facilitating succession planning for the department's fire management needs.
  7. Coordinating and delivering formal training across various locations in Australia.
  8. Supporting Fire Crews with planning and conducting team training activities aligned with emergency scenarios and drills.
  9. Assisting the training team with mapping and verifying qualifications through the LMS system, including regular reporting and auditing of individual profiles.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Background in firefighting and first aid to support training and assessment requirements.
  • Evidence matrix of skills and competencies supporting firefighting background.
  • Familiarity with emergency services and operational excellence practices.
  • Experience in training and people management.
  • Experience in high-risk and diverse emergency response organizations is highly desirable.

Required Qualifications:

  • PUC220 Diploma of Public Safety (Emergency Management)
  • PUMAIL305 Respond to aviation incidents (general)
  • PUA50120 Diploma of Public Safety (Emergency Management)
  • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Diploma of Vocational Education & Training desirable)
  • HLTAID014 Provide Advanced First Aid or higher qualification
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Defence baseline security clearance; applicants must be Australian citizens.
