Operations Strategic Manager Job Summary

The role of Operations Strategic Manager plays a pivotal part in shaping the future of our organization, driving forward-thinking planning, guiding high-performing teams, and spearheading initiatives that yield real impact.

Reporting directly to the Site Director, you will lead cross-functional planning and drive strategic objectives across operations, aligning production, quality, and excellence initiatives effectively.

Main Responsibilities
  • Take ownership of the site Operational Excellence improvement plan, including input in development through to implementation and assessment on gaps to standards.
  • Be the site owner of the local quality strategy and the local interface to commercial stakeholders.
  • Provide support to the Site Director and Managers for the site business planning process and distribute outputs into regional processes.
  • Responsible for strategic site production planning, aligning production improvement activities with the production plan, specifically, development of integrated production and maintenance plans, including effective examination of performance KPIs, strategic sales planning, technology & improvement team input, and major maintenance strategies.
  • Coordinate and manage the input of key data and information into the integrated annual and 5-year business plan for the site, ensuring site leadership is aligned on priorities to achieve the plan and that progress is tracked regularly.
  • Be the Operations interface for aligning departmental goals, processes, and resource allocation with organizational strategy.
  • Manage and optimize the site major events calendar (e.g. shutdowns, audits, risk analysis, workshops, training, etc.)
About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • A degree in Metallurgy, Engineering, Project Management or similar relevant discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in a strategic operational role; business administration, management consulting, or strategic planning.
  • Proficiency in a variety of communication styles, particularly with respect to communicating technical concepts, business cases, and providing business context to your team.
  • Understanding of business operations and procedures.
