Job Overview:

The Bicultural Worker will provide linguistic and cultural expertise to enhance service delivery and support mental health initiatives within the Deafness and Mental Health Statewide Consultation Liaison Service.

  • Culturally Aware Support Services are delivered through training, education, and community engagement to foster equity and inclusion within mental health services for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
  • Mental Health Initiatives involve project management, policy development, and collaboration with diverse stakeholders and communities.
  • A key component is leading projects that promote inclusive service delivery, cultural education, and discrimination awareness in partnership with Queensland Health clinical and non-clinical teams.

This role requires a candidate who is indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. A strong understanding of Deaf culture, mental health, and unique challenges faced by Deaf and hard of hearing consumers is essential.

About You:

  • You have a passion for fostering equity and inclusion within mental health services for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
  • You possess proven experience in delivering culturally aware training and education, ideally within health or community services.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills enable you to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects, develop policies, and contribute to strategic initiatives in a multidisciplinary environment.
