Deafness and Mental Health Professional

Role Overview:

  • We are seeking a skilled professional to provide linguistic and cultural expertise to enhance service delivery and support mental health initiatives.
  • This role will involve delivering cultural awareness training and education to mental health services, sharing insights from lived Deaf culture experiences.
  • The successful candidate will lead and support projects focused on culturally and linguistically diverse and disability improvement initiatives within the Deafness and Mental Health Service.

About You:

  • You are passionate about fostering equity and inclusion within mental health services for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
  • Proven experience in delivering cultural awareness training and education is highly regarded, ideally within health or community services.
  • A strong understanding of Deaf culture, mental health, and the unique challenges faced by Deaf and hard of hearing consumers is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver cultural awareness training programs for mental health professionals.
  2. Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote cultural safety and inclusivity.
  3. Work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify and address systemic barriers to access and equity.
