Job Summary

The Department of Education, Western Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Head of Department - Regional Learning. This is a thirty-six-month (36) fixed term, full-time position commencing July 2025 until the end of June 2028 with possible extension.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate teaching and learning outcomes through effective performance management and modelling a culture of improvement.
  • Contribute to the development of the Directorate's plan through participative decision-making, including assisting in developing Directorate policy and establishing and maintaining systems.
  • Provide educational leadership by managing, developing, promoting and reporting on the Regional Learning Specialist (RLS) program.
  • Lead specialist subject teachers who teach Year 11 and 12 ATAR courses in the Mathematics, English, Science and Humanities and Social Sciences learning areas.
  • Provide up-to-date information on relevant specialist curriculum issues.
Requirements
  • A recognised teaching qualification and current registration to teach in Western Australia.
  • A current Working with Children Check.
  • Ability to work in a diverse range of educational settings.
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Professional knowledge and ability to apply this knowledge to ensure high educational outcomes for regional ATAR students.
  • Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.
