The role of a Payroll Specialist is crucial for the accurate and timely delivery of payrolls for multiple employees. This position will provide exceptional customer service within a growing Finance team, with overall responsibility for maintaining employee data and supervising and mentoring a team member.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Manage end-to-end payroll processes for multiple employees across various entities in Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, and Western Australia.
- Maintain employee records, including superannuation, taxation, leave balances, and other related information.
- Process leave, deductions, and other adjustments to ensure accurate payments.
- Reconcile leave between the timesheet system and HR database.
- Process new starters and termination payments in accordance with company policies.
- Respond to employee queries regarding payroll-related matters.
- Perform monthly and yearly payroll reconciliations and manage ledger queries to ensure accuracy.
- Provide timely and accurate information to external sources, including government agencies.
- Liaise with stakeholders on payroll adjustments, policies, new hires, terminations, and other related issues.
- Process Single Touch Payroll (STP), payroll tax reconciliations, and superannuation payments.
- Produce yearly distribution review letters and ad hoc calculations in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
- Produce annual remuneration letters in conjunction with Human Resources.
- 5+ years' experience managing payroll operations within a professional services environment.
- Strong written and interpersonal communication skills, with demonstrated success building effective relationships (internal and external).
- Advanced MS Office and online banking skills.
- Expert understanding of current tax, superannuation, and other payroll-related legislation for all Australian States and Territories.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work efficiently under pressure.
- Proactive, flexible, and able to manage competing tasks and timeframes.
