Racing Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Racing Manager to join our team.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for working closely with top trainers to build strong relationships with jockeys and agents. You will help shape winning campaigns across New South Wales and Queensland.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Working with head & assistant trainers to create appropriate race plans for upcoming campaigns, using horseform to build a profile of each horse's strengths.
  • Analyzing race programs to identify and ensure the stable competes at a competitive level across races within New South Wales & Queensland.
  • Establishing & maintaining strong relationships with all jockeys & their agents.
  • Strategically booking jockeys for all upcoming race rides & trials given horse & trainer preferences.
  • Lodging daily scratchings, nominations, and acceptances for relevant racing jurisdictions within key deadlines.
  • Proactively identifying feature races for key horses.
  • Maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the racing calendar & nomination deadlines across New South Wales & Queensland racing.
  • Preparing pre-race analysis & strategy for all engaged NSW/QLD runners to communicate with relevant training staff.
  • Ensuring all necessary horse documentation is kept up to date according to industry standards (eg. Registrations, passports, stable returns, identification cards).
  • Participating in daily post-race team meetings, providing post-race analysis using sectionals, ratings, and other form factors to the wider training team to make informed decisions on future racing plans.
Key Requirements
  • Experience working in the thoroughbred racing industry.
  • Willingness to learn and confidently use Prism horse software, along with in-house technology and data dashboards, to support operational efficiency and decision-making.
  • Understanding of the handicapping system, rules of racing and racing programming.
  • Desired network of relationships in the thoroughbred racing industry.
  • Strong attention to detail with exceptional organisational skills.
  • Great communication skills along with the ability to work in a team environment.

Candidates must choose between two locations: Randwick or Moss Vale.
