We are seeking a highly skilled Stable Hand to join our team at Crown Lodge.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in caring for young thoroughbreds, with a strong understanding of horse healthcare and welfare requirements.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Performing daily stable tasks including feeding, grooming, mucking out, rugging, trot ups, and loading walkers.
  • Conducting routine health checks, recognizing signs of injury or illness, and reporting concerns.
  • Preparing horses for trackwork, including grooming and checking shoes and general health, as well as selecting appropriate gear and conducting post-track work procedures.
  • Preparing horses and equipment for race meetings and trials, as well as transporting nominated horses to and from events.
  • General stable duties such as upkeep and cleaning, including stables, drinkers, feed bins, tack, gear, and equipment.

Requirements for this role include:

  • Demonstrated horse handling skills, with experience and confidence handling young thoroughbreds in full training.
  • A practical understanding of horse healthcare and welfare requirements, with prior experience providing direct daily care.
  • An understanding of the thoroughbred racing industry and operations, including knowledge of racing stable management.
