Technical Support Specialist Job Overview

This is an intermediate position that involves providing technical assistance to computer system users. The role requires answering questions, resolving computer problems, and diagnosing desktop, laptop, printer, and computer hardware and software issues.

  • Under supervision, you will monitor and troubleshoot operating issues, including failures and service-level degradation.
  • Initiate corrective actions to ensure connectivity and minimize downtime, with the goal of ensuring availability of the IT environment.
  • Provide support and technical assistance to internal or external users regarding computer hardware and software to resolve problems.
  • Configure and set up workstations and laptops as needed.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and arrive at workable solutions quickly.
  • Advise others on resolution and solutions in issues.
  • Contribute to the resolution of end-user desktop computer issues, including hardware, printer troubleshooting and configuration, installing software and/or hardware peripherals, performing daily backup procedures, and liaising with third-party software/hardware vendors for problem resolution.
  • Support and setup IT infrastructure at trade shows, which may include periodic travel.
  • Monitor, support, and troubleshoot the IT infrastructure for operating issues involving failures, degradation, and event correlation using various software and hardware monitoring tools.
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution for all types of IT infrastructure as assigned – hardware, software, telecommunication, business application, customer connectivity, etc.
