About the Role

The Product Technician will be responsible for ensuring the quality and fit specifications of the company's product range throughout the product life cycle. This includes providing clear instructions on design and technical construction to suppliers.

This role will work closely with the Design and Production Manager to ensure the quality, fit, and workmanship across all styles (both apparel and homewares) is maintained at an impeccable standard and the design vision is executed accurately.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all products meet the quality and construction standards required by the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clear and accurate additional product information throughout projects, including information and directions relating to labeling, quality, and packaging.
  • Ensure strong record-keeping across all relevant tracking methods.
  • Work closely with the Design and Production Manager, providing key updates and actioning ad-hoc duties to support project momentum.
  • Cross-check and audit product packaging to ensure accuracy of labels and barcodes.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of on-site sample and packaging libraries.
  • Support fittings alongside the Design and Production Manager.
  • Support general product administration both on a regular basis and as directed.
  • Manage P1, P2, SMS, and PPS stages.
  • Work closely with the Design and Production Manager to review proto costings for price appropriateness and consider style or construction updates where required to meet margin/RRP.
  • Action and monitor the sample orders for SMS and marketing samples.
  • Support in all fit meetings.
  • Ensure samples are received and dispatched according to timeline and agreed quality standards.
  • Ensure fit and quality meet wholesalers' requirements across all product types.
  • Ensure all measurements, fits, and grading are accurate.
  • Address quality issues and ensure action steps are implemented to solve the issues.
  • Measure and fit samples ready for range release and bulk production.
  • Ensure all pertinent safety and legal regulatory requirements are executed within high-risk product categories.
  • Ensure approvals, all technical information, and specifications are completed accurately and in accordance with timeline expectations.
  • Problem resolution to improve process and quality of products for customer satisfaction.
About You
  • 3+ years' experience in a similar position.
  • Tertiary education in Design, Pattern making, and Grading is essential.
  • Pattern making skills preferred.
  • Tech pack and garment spec knowledge is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills to adhere to critical path deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Quality-driven: Committed to delivering the best product.
  • A collaborative and team-oriented approach.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in fabric testing and quality assurance.
  • Adobe Illustrator skills are preferable.
  • Ensure all approved products meet legal, safety, and company standard requirements, by making commercial judgments in relation to products.
  • Manage product quality, as per brand DNA through store audits, customer feedback, and benchmarking industry standards.
