Job Description:

This role is accountable for providing leadership and direction to underground shift crews in all planned mining activities. The successful incumbent will be responsible for executing daily and weekly plans as dictated by the planning team, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental obligations.

The Undermanager will manage performance by monitoring shift personnel and enforcing standards of work and behaviour. They will also ensure accurate reporting and distribution of 24-hour plans to relevant parties on shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide initiative and clarification on tasks, initiate improvements and work with minimal supervision and in a coordinated manner with peers.
  • Ensure accurate distribution and communication of 24-hour plans to all relevant parties.
  • Manage and monitor the performance of shift personnel, enforcing standards of work and behaviour.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of shift reports.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in Underground Longwall Mining.
  • Holder of certificate of competency as Undermanager or equivalent qualification.
  • Desired minimum of 10 years' experience in the mining industry.
  • Proven track record in operational management at same or subordinate level.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership capability.
