Recovery-Focused Mental Health Nurse

This role involves working within a multidisciplinary team environment to deliver comprehensive recovery-oriented care and support services to individuals in a custodial setting.

The successful candidate will be required to practice using evidence-based treatment approaches, assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and maintaining high standards of patient care.

Care at this facility prioritises recovery-oriented health care that meets the needs of individuals with mental health diagnoses who have a history of criminal offending or are at risk of offending behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualised recovery plans for patients.
  • Develop and document patient-centred mental health recovery plans.
  • Administer and monitor medication interventions, ensuring safe and effective patient outcomes.
  • Participate in delivering programs and initiatives to support patient wellbeing and rehabilitation.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop staff portfolios, enhancing ongoing professional development and unit/team effectiveness.
  • Perform localised tasks specific to each unit/team, such as key nursing coordination, at-risk assessments, initial reception screening, and provision of therapeutic programs.
About You:
  • Holds a postgraduate diploma in mental health nursing or equivalent and is registered with AHPRA.
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding and commitment to mental health consumer recovery.
  • Exhibits well-developed leadership skills that incorporate shared values into timely actions.
  • Has proven ability to promote safe and effective evidence-based nursing care for mentally ill patients.
  • Utilises reflective techniques to deliver quality, recovery-focused mental health care.
