Leadership Opportunity in Primary Healthcare

We seek a Medical Director to provide strategic leadership, management, and governance within our organisation. The role involves overseeing the medical workforce, patient safety, quality improvement, and service delivery planning.

The Medical Director will be responsible for providing culturally safe medical leadership, contributing to enterprise leadership at the executive level, and developing policies and procedures to mitigate risk.

A key aspect of the role is to ensure adequate medical coverage across the region, including talent development and review of attraction and retention strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide culturally safe medical leadership that improves clinical governance and performance.
  2. Contribute 10-20% of your time to clinical work per month, rotating between sites.
  3. Participate as a member of the Senior Leadership Team and contribute to enterprise leadership at the executive level.
  4. Develop and implement policies, processes, and procedures to mitigate risk.
  5. Ensure adequate medical coverage across the region.
  6. Manage budgets and associated performance.
  7. Develop revenue strategies to maximise outcomes.
  8. Lead clinical functions in times of emergency or coordinated responses.
Requirements
  • Eligibility for full registration with AHPRA.
  • Commitment to Aboriginal Community Control.
  • Detailed knowledge of population health status in East Arnhem Land.
  • Experience in direct primary healthcare provision in remote contexts.
  • Success in an executive leadership role with strategic thinking and goal attainment.
  • Knowledge of implementing clinical governance and continuous quality improvement processes.
