North Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Everyday Independence Full time

Everyday Independence is a pioneering organization with over 40 hubs across Australia, dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities to live their best lives. With a united team of change-makers, we're committed to breaking down barriers and making inclusion possible for all Australians.

The role of a Developmental Educator at Everyday Independence presents an exceptional opportunity to be part of an interdisciplinary team, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality support services. As a Developmental Educator, you will be responsible for providing person-centered support and planning for individuals with disabilities, their families, and support teams.

To excel in this role, you will need to possess a Bachelor or Masters degree in Disability (or equivalent) and be eligible to become a member of the DEAI. You may also be required to undergo a suitability assessment and obtain certification as a Behaviour Support Practitioner from the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

A successful candidate will demonstrate passion for using the social model of therapy to remove barriers and advocate for individuals with disabilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key responsibilities will include working with participants and their key supports to develop new skills and habits, problem-solving challenges that prevent participants from living fulfilling lives, and championing the role of a social model practitioner to help individuals overcome barriers. You will also use evidence-based practice and professional reasoning to recommend the most appropriate team of supports, therapy, duration, location, and timing.

As a valued member of our team, you will have the opportunity to enhance people's capacity to make their own life choices and increase their independence. A positive approach to risk-taking will be essential in achieving quality-of-life outcomes while ensuring safeguards are in place to protect the rights and well-being of vulnerable individuals.
