Job Overview

The role of a Senior Payroll Officer is a critical position within any organisation, requiring an individual with exceptional skills in payroll processing and management.

As a standalone or senior payroll professional, this candidate will be responsible for managing multiple payrolls across various frequencies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. They will interpret enterprise agreements, awards, and company policies to ensure correct employee payments and maintain accurate records of pay transactions, leave balances, staff movements, and WorkCover payments.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and processing complex payrolls, including leave accruals, superannuation, redundancy, and tax
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies, including processing back payments when required
  • Supporting compliance and reporting requirements, including headcount, staff movement, leave liability, and FBT reports
  • Assisting with month-end reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger activities

For this challenging yet rewarding role, we seek a confident and detail-oriented payroll professional with a strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, and award interpretation. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years' experience in a standalone or senior payroll role, ideally within a complex, multi-site organisation, and proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing and payroll system management.
