]About the role
]The National Parks and Wildlife Service has an opportunity for an Environmental Officer to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.
]As an Environmental Officer, you will assist with activities relating to maintenance and improvement to park assets within NPWS parks and reserves. You will be guided by senior staff, working on tasks including pest management, fire management and park management.
]You will operate and maintain plant and equipment, participate in fire management activities, respond to visitor enquiries and assist with compliance activities as required.
]Key Responsibilities
]- Conducting fieldwork to monitor and manage weeds, pests and other environmental issues
]- Assisting with planning and implementing projects to improve park assets and infrastructure
]- Working collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders to achieve conservation goals
]- Participating in training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge
]Requirements
]- This is an Identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is an essential requirement of the role.
]- You must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and be accepted as such by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
]- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people, government organisations and communities, with the ability to communicate across cultures.
]- Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent and four-wheel driving certification.
]- Ability to carry out all duties safely and obtain relevant SafeWork NSW certification to operate and maintain a range of plant and equipment.
