We are seeking an experienced Operational Risk Specialist to join our Business Operational Risk Management team in Sydney. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your expertise in non-financial risk management to enhance all risk processes managed by the Risk Management Group (RMG) – Macquarie's global Line 2 risk function.

The ideal candidate will contribute significantly to embedding the Risk Management Framework across RMG divisions, including Market, Credit, Compliance, Financial Crime, Operational, Prudential, Internal Audit, and COO functions. You will gain a thorough understanding of inherent risks within RMG as Macquarie's global Line 2 risk function. Key responsibilities include analyzing risk processes, advising on mitigating controls, and supporting incident and issue management through root cause identification.

You will also partner with RMG divisions to ensure they understand their role in effective operational risk management and support them in assessing and approving significant change. This involves identifying and addressing risks associated with proposals while facilitating and maintaining Risk and Control Self Assessments and driving live risk management practices.

This role offers:

  • 4+ years of experience in non-financial risk, operational risk management, or a related discipline
  • Tertiary education in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to draw out insights
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and clear communication

In this role, you will be part of our independent and centralized Risk Management Group, responsible for reviewing and challenging, overseeing, monitoring, and reporting on Macquarie's material risks. Our divisions include Compliance, Credit, Financial Crime Risk, Internal Audit, Market Risk, Operational Risk, Prudential Risk, and Risk Management Group Central.
