Protecting Australia's agriculture industry is a critical task that requires highly skilled and experienced professionals. As a key member of our Biosecurity Operations Division in Sydney, you will play a vital role in ensuring the integrity of our country's biosecurity and imported food requirements.

The Role

Our team has a national footprint with a presence in all capital cities and major regional ports. We are responsible for delivering regulatory assessment and inspections of goods across the biosecurity continuum to verify compliance with Australia's biosecurity and imported food requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections and clearance of various cargo commodities to confirm compliance with Australia's biosecurity and imported food requirements
  • Assess import/export documentation to ensure adherence to relevant legislation and policy
  • Manage non-compliant goods and capture information to support evidence-based decisions
  • Provide expert advice on complex biosecurity matters to employees, stakeholders, and senior managers
Requirements
  • Hold and maintain a valid Australian motor vehicle driver's license
  • Adhere to departmental uniform policies during field operations
  • Meet the minimum requirements for appointment as a Biosecurity Officer under the Biosecurity Act 2015

This selection process will be used to fill multiple vacancies, both ongoing and non-ongoing. Non-ongoing contracts will be offered for an initial period of eighteen months with the possibility of extension up to three years.
