Agricultural Specialist

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Agricultural Specialist to cultivate a variety of crops for sale at local markets and to local businesses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainable and organic farming practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate, plant, and harvest a range of crops using sustainable and organic methods
  • Monitor crop growth and health, identifying and managing pests and diseases as necessary
  • Coordinate and manage planting schedules to ensure a consistent supply of fresh produce
  • Operate and maintain farm equipment and tools, including tractors, plows, and irrigation systems
  • Prepare produce for market, including washing, packing, and labeling
  • Manage inventory and pricing for market sales, ensuring maximum profitability
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations
  • Built relationships with customers and vendors, providing exceptional customer service and support
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in agricultural or horticultural production
  • Knowledge of sustainable and organic farming practices, including soil conservation, crop rotation, and integrated pest management
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, with ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build relationships with customers and vendors
  • Ability to operate and maintain farm equipment and tools, including tractors, plows, and irrigation systems
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, with physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
