A leading horticulture company specializing in cucumber cultivation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join their team.

Position: Agricultural Technician

Salary Range: Competitive remuneration package

Location: NSW, Australia

Mode: Full Time

Experience: 2-3 years

Hours: 38 hours per week

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting assessments of farmland's topographical, physical, and soil characteristics specific to cucumber horticulture to optimize land use and identify nutrient deficiencies.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Collaborate on developing innovative planting, fertilizing, harvesting, and processing methods tailored to cucumber cultivation to maximize productivity.
  2. Identify pests, diseases, and weeds affecting cucumber crops and assist in developing control strategies.
  3. Analyze cucumber produce to ensure quality standards are met throughout production.
  4. Inspect plants to evaluate feeding regimes and nutrient effectiveness.
  5. Assist in breeding experiments to enhance cucumber crop traits.
  6. Coordinate procurement of necessary materials and provide guidance on their use.
  7. Organize data for research and development in cucumber horticulture.
  8. Plan harvesting and processing to ensure efficiency and quality.
  9. Advise farmers on farming techniques to optimize yields and sustainability.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or related field.
  • Previous experience in agricultural production, preferably in cucumber farming.
  • Knowledge of soil science, crop management, pest and disease control.
  • Ability to operate agricultural machinery and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
