Position Overview

As the Event Operations Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional food and beverage services within the Event Operations Department. Your primary objective will be to ensure that the department achieves its financial targets through meticulous cost management and inventory control. This position involves overseeing a dedicated team while guaranteeing that every guest experiences outstanding service aligned with the hotel's standards and protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Thoroughly understanding the menu offerings and providing detailed explanations to guests.
  • Recognizing dietary restrictions and making suitable recommendations.
  • Being knowledgeable about menu items from all hotel outlets to suggest alternatives to guests.
  • Being aware of the operating hours of all dining venues and hotel facilities.
  • Training team members on product knowledge during each shift.
  • Reviewing daily Event Orders to ensure readiness and compliance with guest requirements.
  • Conducting effective team briefings to align on service expectations.
  • Welcoming guests warmly and assisting with their needs, including coats and bags.
  • Ensuring that all service protocols are executed to the required standards.
  • Managing drink replenishment as necessary.
  • Taking ownership of the guest experience by engaging with them and ensuring their satisfaction.
  • Addressing guest inquiries and concerns promptly.
  • Handling customer feedback and complaints positively, providing insights to management.
  • Proactively assisting guests with their requests and training the team to anticipate needs.
  • Concluding the guest experience on a positive note by confirming their satisfaction.
  • Expressing gratitude to guests and wishing them well.
  • Supporting the training of new team members through induction and on-the-job training.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to the team during service hours.
  • Being aware of departmental financial targets related to food, beverage, payroll, and overall expenses.
  • Collaborating with Engineering and Housekeeping to ensure cleanliness and maintenance standards are upheld.
  • Reviewing shift operations and conducting handovers and briefings effectively.
  • Identifying potential fluctuations in business and communicating them to management.
  • Recognizing and reporting potential sales opportunities to your supervisor.
  • Understanding and adhering to relevant workplace health and safety regulations.
  • Ensuring safe and healthy practices are followed throughout service.
  • Reporting any incidents or accidents to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
  • Instilling the Food & Beverage mission within yourself and your team.
  • Carrying out any other reasonable duties as assigned by management.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • 1-3 years of experience in a leadership role within a 4 or 5-star hotel environment.
  • Proficiency with computer systems relevant to the hospitality industry.
  • A motivated and enthusiastic approach to all tasks, with a desire to learn and improve.
  • Flexibility and a positive attitude towards changing requirements and tasks.
  • A strong team player who supports colleagues in achieving common goals.
  • Exceptional leadership, people management, and training capabilities.
  • A guest-focused mindset with a commitment to exceeding service expectations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and planning skills.
  • Able to perform under pressure and manage stressful situations effectively.
  • An outgoing personality with a willingness to work extended hours.
