About the Role
The Assistant Product Manager role is a key position within AMP's General division, responsible for the management of our Wrap products, including the flagship MyNorth offer. This involves maintaining competitive and compliant products and solutions, creating strong product value propositions for customers and advisers, and driving increased cashflow and revenues.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Management: Maintain existing product value and implement changes and enhancements to products to ensure optimal outcomes for customers and AMP.
- Regulatory Compliance: Product lead and support to ensure successful implementation of regulatory change / compliance initiatives.
- Product Expertise: Provide product subject matter expertise for compliance incident rectification activity.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare internal reporting for senior management and the trustee / RE boards.
- Operational Excellence: Ensure a sound operating environment through execution of controls and documentation of policies and processes.
- Product Implementation: Product project implementation including analysis, impact assessment, and roll out.
- Disclosure and Communication: Support for delivery of current and compliant product disclosure documents alongside the Disclosure Team.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Development of support materials and product related communications to internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaboration and Support: Support Product Managers, Senior Product Managers and Head of Product and Pricing on product strategy, product development initiatives, product management and projects as required.
Main Focus Areas
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Insurance Product team with the following activities:

- Insurance Competitor Analysis: Oversight of Regulatory Change & responses and including working with business and operational teams in implement strategic projects and ensure risk management activities are conducted.
- Product Development: Support the management and development of the insurance offer so that it remains contemporary, compliant and relevant for the customer target markets.
- Product Review: Support in reviewing products and plans at risk of Erosion due to insurance premiums. Looking at insurance Framework, Erosion guidelines and insurance policies.
- Incident Management: Support with the oversight, raising and remediation activities of product insurance related incidents and breaches to the incident management team.
- Insurance Competitor Analysis: Oversight insurance competitor analysis and insights.
- Product Maintenance: Maintain the existing insurance product set to legal, industry and competitor standards, including initiating and project managing product enhancements as required.
- Risk Management: Ensure the insurance offerings with the various products are managed within the Risk Management Framework and all incidents identified are rectified within the appropriate timeframes and process.
- Regulatory Support: Support Product Management as SME on insurance related regulatory change and growth initiatives as required.
- Reporting and Analysis: Assist with preparation of any relevant Management and/or Board Papers and Reports.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with key stakeholders, in particular the Australian Wealth Management and Wealth Platform teams, our Advisor and Workplace Sales teams to assist with product management and development initiatives.
What You'll Bring
The ideal candidate will bring the following experiences to this role:
- Product Management Experience: Demonstrated experience in the Australian wealth management market (2+ years) across Product, including platforms, superannuation, retirement, and advice.
- Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of compliance requirements, relevant legislation, and the role of regulators.
- Business Acumen: Business related tertiary qualifications and/or relevant post graduate qualifications e.g., finance/commerce degree, CFA, RG146, CFP.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail.
- Product Management Skills: Product management and/or development experience and skills.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Effective cross-functional stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of regulatory environment.
- Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of the competitive market in which AMP operates.
- Customer Focus: Strong customer focus.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and implementation skills.
