Job Description

We are seeking a Counsellor to provide professional counselling services to students and staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing complex client presentations, liaising between different areas of the organisation, and organising ongoing care for clients.

The Counsellor will work closely with various teams to provide individual, couple and group counselling interventions. Crisis management and risk assessment will also be key aspects of this role.

  • Assessment and diagnosis of psychosocial, academically related, and mental health problems of presenting clients.
  • Providing individual, couple and group counselling using a range of psychotherapeutic skills and interventions consistent with currently accepted best practice.
  • Crisis Management
  • Undertake client related research, report writing, and case consultation as required for problem formulation and treatment.
  • Maintain confidential clinical notes, case data entry, and any reporting as per work plan targets and registration requirements.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Demonstrated superior skills in assessing complex client presentations, liaising between different areas of the organisation, and organising ongoing care for clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess a range of psycho-social problems/disorders and provides appropriate and effective interventions using effective counselling approaches.
  • Experience in managing risk and crisis situations.
  • Registration as a Psychologist or a Mental Health Social Worker in NSW.
