About the Role

AusNet Services is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Land Planning and Environmental Manager to join our Community Engagement and Land Planning Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in leading our Land Planning and Environment team, ensuring the successful delivery of large infrastructure projects in our Development & Future Networks (DFN) division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and Manage the Land Planning & Environment Team: Set strategic objectives, foster talent development, and provide expert guidance on land tenure, statutory planning, environmental approvals, and cultural heritage.
  • Contribute to Tender Submissions: Evaluate planning and environmental requirements, scope, and cost estimation to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Oversee Budgets and Forecasts: Manage budgets and forecasts in line with authority delegations, ensuring timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise: Offer guidance on environmental outcomes and EES approvals, ensuring regulatory compliance and successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Secure planning permits, scheme amendments, consents, and EES approval through effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and Review Environmental Planning and Approval Activities: Prepare technical advice for internal and external audiences, ensuring timely and effective project delivery.
Requirements
  • Tertiary Qualification: Environmental Science, Engineering, Planning, or a related field.
  • Strong Understanding: Statutory planning, State and Federal environmental approvals, and utility legislation.
  • Proven Track Record: Delivering complex land, planning, and environmental approvals for major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience: Environmental assessments, technical report preparation, project monitoring, and meeting deadlines and budgets for large-scale projects.
  • Significant Contribution: Achieving EES approval on similar projects.
  • Experience Managing Subcontractor Delivery: Proven ability to manage large teams of specialists in planning and environmental scopes.
  • Strong Leadership Skills: Build relationships, communicate effectively, manage conflicts, and influence outcomes positively.
