The Senior Project Officer will lead the development and implementation of projects addressing domestic and family violence, with a focus on improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders.
This role involves providing advice on domestic and family violence issues, contributing to the government's response to relevant reports, and collaborating with community organizations to ensure understanding and effective referral pathways for domestic and family violence support.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of domestic and family violence and related reforms, as well as the ability to implement practical actions supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with complex needs.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, coordinate, and implement projects addressing domestic and family violence and related reforms.
- Provide advice on domestic and family violence issues and contribute to the government's response to relevant reports.
- Collaborate with community organizations to ensure understanding and effective referral pathways for domestic and family violence support.
- Identify and develop culturally appropriate local solutions to enhance service provision.
- Work with local service providers to ensure culturally appropriate services that meet community needs.
- Report on trends related to domestic and family violence and provide timely advice and analysis.
- Advise on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander protocols, history, and issues within the region.
- Contribute to planning and evaluation of policies and programs affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queenslanders.
- Prepare complex reports, submissions, briefs, and correspondence.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Understanding of domestic and family violence and related reforms.
- Ability to implement practical actions supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families with complex needs.
- Knowledge of challenges and opportunities in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Effective communication skills with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with knowledge of their cultures and histories.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and administrative skills.
