Job Title: Lead Animator

We're seeking a skilled Lead Animator to join our experienced team and contribute to the development of two high-fidelity action PC games using Unreal Engine. As the Lead Animator, you'll have the opportunity to take ownership of animation for one of our upcoming PC titles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Manage Animation Team: Provide guidance, mentorship, and feedback to ensure the delivery of high-quality animations and the team's professional growth.
  • Collaborate with Art Director: Establish the overall animation vision and style for the game, working closely with the Art Director to ensure a cohesive artistic direction.
  • Storyboarding and Keyframe Animation: Create storyboards, animatics, and keyframe animations to effectively showcase ideas and concepts.
  • Character Animation: Design and create high-quality animations that bring characters and game elements to life, ensuring seamless integration with character models.
  • Technical Requirements: Ensure animations meet technical requirements and performance guidelines, working with the development team to correctly implement and showcase animations in the game.
  • Project Management: Partner with production to define scope, timelines, and deliverables for project milestones, developing and refining best practices and workflows to achieve production goals.

Requirements:

  • Portfolio: A portfolio demonstrating exceptional animation skills and a strong sense of timing and movement.
  • Proficiency in Animation Software: Proficiency in industry-standard software, including Maya, 3ds Max, MotionBuilder, and experience working with Unreal Engine or comparable game engines.
  • Technical Animation Setup: Understanding of technical animation setup, including layering, blending, rag dolls, and physics-based animation.
  • Memory and Performance Limitations: Understanding of memory and performance limitations in relation to animation.
  • Time and Workload Management: Effective time and workload management skills to meet project deadlines.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-Solving and Attention to Detail: Proactive problem-solving abilities and attention to detail to deliver high-quality results.
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience in a lead or senior animator role is highly desirable.
