This position presents an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to assume leadership of our Harmonisation team as Manager. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director National Services Transition and play a pivotal role in achieving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Harmonisation team, instilling NHVR's values and fostering a high-performance culture.
- Evaluate ongoing harmonisation opportunities, providing options analysis for executive decision-making.
- Review current performance indicators for On Roads, developing a comprehensive understanding of future asset, infrastructure, and workforce capabilities.
- Collaborate with the AIR team and NHVR Training team to design a future workforce model that ensures effective deployment, education in the supply chain, and removes barriers to borderless operations.
- Develop harmonised business processes, systems, policies, asset, and infrastructure plans to deliver efficiency, productivity, and safety benefits to industry and the community.
- Work closely with the WHS team to standardise regional approaches to assessing and treating identified risks in the on-road operations environment and agreeing minimum standards to be applied nationally.
- Collaborate with the P&C team to assess and review deployment approaches and rostering principles applied locally, evolving towards common standards and principles.
- Oversee the development and implementation of a national risk-based scheme for heavy vehicle inspection.
- Manage local procurement support for all regional sites, including a national asset strategy and procurement approach for on-road assets.

About You
To succeed in this role, you will possess:
- High-level people management skills with proven ability to lead, motivate, and support employees to achieve effective outcomes.
- Extensive change management skills with demonstrated experience in cultivating a positive work environment and a high-performance, collaborative culture.
- Demonstrated understanding of key policy and strategic issues surrounding national heavy vehicle regulatory service delivery.
- Highly developed written, oral, and interpersonal skills appropriate to senior levels of government and industry.
Essential Requirements
A tertiary qualification in business, public administration, or relevant discipline is essential, along with extensive project management, leadership, people management, communication, and negotiation skills. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the heavy vehicle regulatory environment and inter-relationships between state and territory governments are also required.
You will demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, and ability to work with minimal supervision, contributing to the achievement of team goals. A positive and flexible attitude is necessary to thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities and ambiguity.
