About the College Chaplain Role

Columba Catholic College, Charters Towers, is seeking an experienced and dedicated School Chaplain to commence as soon as practicable. This role is a term time, permanent position completing 8 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

The College Chaplain works to create opportunities for faith development of students and advance the religious life of the school community. Key responsibilities include:

  • Representing the College in a professional, warm, friendly, and efficient manner.
  • Providing pastoral and spiritual support to students.
  • Engaging students in opportunities for faith development.
  • Advancing the religious life of the school community.
  • Fostering the experience of Catholic community within the school.
  • Engaging the school community in social justice and social action.
  • Encouraging and facilitating connections with Church/faith communities and agencies.

Requirements

The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government. Other requirements include:

  • Certificate IV in Youth Work, Chaplaincy, or Pastoral Care, or equivalent or higher qualification.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
