Simulation and Training Solutions Project Manager

The role of a Simulation and Training Solutions Project Manager is pivotal in the delivery of complex defence technology development programs. This position involves overseeing the full program lifecycle, from planning and execution to integration and delivery.

Key responsibilities include programme leadership, project execution, stakeholder engagement, governance and compliance, risk management, financial oversight, and continuous improvement.

  • Programme Leadership: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of defence simulation and training programmes, ensuring alignment with contractual and customer requirements.
  • Project Execution: Define scope, objectives, schedules, and resources; oversee system design, integration, testing, and milestone achievement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the primary contact for defence customers and partners; build strong relationships and provide regular updates and reviews.
  • Governance & Compliance: Ensure adherence to defence standards (ASDEFCON, ISO, MIL-STDs), project frameworks, and security protocols including ITAR and clearance requirements.
  • Risk Management: Identify, track, and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies; seek opportunities to improve cost, schedule, or quality.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage budgets, forecasts, and cost controls; lead multidisciplinary teams and negotiate contracts and supplier agreements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Promote lessons learned and best practices in project management (PMBOK, PRINCE2, Agile).
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in project/program management within the defence or aerospace sector, ideally with simulation, training systems, or mission system development.
  • Experience managing complex, high-value, multi-year programs with multiple subcontractors and international supply chains.
  • Demonstrated success delivering projects under defence contracting models (e.g., ASDEFCON or equivalent) and project management methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills at a senior level within defence, primes, and industry.
  • Proficiency with project management tools and methodologies.
  • Strong technical understanding of defence simulation, training systems, or related technologies.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • NV1 security clearance (or ability to obtain).
