About the Role

CatholicCare Tasmania seeks a dedicated and compassionate Therapeutic Practice Lead to support young people in residential placements. As a key member of the team, you will contribute to creating trauma-informed, therapeutic environments that prioritize the voice and wellbeing of each young person.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough assessments, develop and review support plans, and provide therapeutic interventions to promote positive outcomes.
  • Collaborate with young people to ensure their voices are central in all planning processes, fostering a culture of empowerment and inclusivity.
  • Provide expert therapeutic input, training, and coaching to promote a trauma-informed approach within the team, enhancing the quality of care and support.
  • Promote family and community-inclusive practices to enhance placement stability and support transitions, recognizing the importance of relationships and networks.
  • Engage in continuous improvement by reviewing support plans and participating in incident reviews, ensuring that services are responsive to the needs of young people and their families.
  • Provide on-call therapeutic support on a rotational roster, demonstrating a commitment to providing 24/7 care and support.
About You
  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Allied Health, or equivalent experience, with a strong foundation in therapeutic practice and youth support.
  • Experience: Preferably with young people in out-of-home care, with knowledge of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention and trauma-informed practices, enabling you to provide expert support and guidance.
  • Skills: Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, promoting collaboration and mutual respect.
  • Commitment: Demonstrated alignment with CatholicCare's mission, values, and safeguarding principles, ensuring that your practice is guided by a commitment to social justice and the protection of vulnerable individuals.
  • Requirements: Working with Vulnerable People registration, National Police Check, First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain within 3 months), and a valid Tasmanian driver's license, enabling you to participate in work-related activities and travel.
