Job Title: Sterilisation Specialist

We are seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a sterilisation specialist. This is a full-time position available.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make an impact by undertaking general and specialised duties in disinfection and sterilisation of instruments from various clinical areas within the hospital.

The role involves:

  1. Thermal disinfection, functionality checks/inspection, packaging and sterilisation of all instrumentation for theatres and other clinical areas
  2. Compliance with AS5369:2023 standards, infection control policy, GENCA guidelines and other statutory requirements
  3. Operation, monitoring, interpretation and documentation of all equipment reprocessing requirements
  4. Reporting and documenting quality activities
  5. Prioritisation of instrumentation and processes
  6. Maintenance of the sterile services department area and equipment in accordance with Standards
  7. Participation in quality improvement initiatives and risk management activities
  8. Assistance with management of general stock

About Us:

Northern Beaches Hospital provides care to patients from a fully licensed private facility with a range of quality services provided by exceptional nurses, doctors and staff. The sterile services department contains state-of-the-art equipment and offers a contemporary sterile processing service for surgical equipment.

The operational hours for the sterile services department are from 6.30am to 10.30pm Monday to Fridays and 9.00am to 5.00pm on weekends and public holidays. However, services may increase to 24/7 as demand increases.

You Will Bring:

- Experience in sterilisation processing within a healthcare environment
- Sterilisation Service Certificate III or working towards completion of the course
- Knowledge and understanding of AS5369:2023
- Knowledge and experience in the use of electronic tracking systems
- A track record of prioritising workload demands
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team as well as independently
- Demonstrated knowledge of manual handling principles and techniques and ability to perform manual handling activities
- Commitment to customer service delivery in a healthcare setting
- Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility in rostering.
