Key Responsibilities
  • Process Understanding: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the processing plant, working closely with the processing team to optimize crushing, grinding, leaching, CIP, elution, refining, and tailings disposal operations.
  • Laboratory Operations: Assist laboratory technicians in sample preparation and wet laboratory procedures to enhance knowledge of laboratory protocols.
  • Maintenance Support: Work alongside the maintenance department as a trades assistant to gain insight into work order systems and equipment management.
  • Metallurgical Accounting: Perform metallurgical accounting tasks under the guidance of senior metallurgists, developing expertise in accounting procedures.
  • Plant Performance Monitoring: Collaborate with plant and senior metallurgists to monitor key performance indicators, identifying variances and trends.
  • Improvement Projects: Contribute to plant surveys and improvement projects to collect critical operating data and drive operational excellence.
  • Departmental Integration: Foster relationships with geology, mining, and environmental departments to gain a broad understanding of the operation's interdependencies.
  • Development Program: Meet all development program requirements, including completion of learning objectives and reporting milestones.
  • Task Completion: Prioritize and complete allocated tasks efficiently, adhering to timelines and quality standards.
  • Process Optimization: Analyze output variables and equipment performance during each shift, suggesting adjustments to maintain optimal production levels.
  • Escalation Procedures:
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process enhancements and participate in ongoing efforts to improve data recording and plant operation.
Requirements
  • Hold recognized tertiary qualifications in metallurgy, chemical engineering, process engineering, or equivalent fields.
  • Develop a strong understanding of relevant statutory regulations, such as the Western Australian Mining Act and Regulations, and the Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act.
  • Possess excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Value prior vacation work experience within the mining industry, particularly in gold mining, and demonstrate proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Hold a valid WA Driver's License (manual C Class) and be willing to obtain necessary certifications, such as confined space entry, gas testing, and working at heights.
