Job Overview

The Collins Class submarine fleet's Life of Type Extension (LOTE) will provide the nation with submarine capability into the 2030s.

We are seeking a Strategic Procurement Specialist to lead the engagement with strategic suppliers and undertake contracting and procurement activity at all levels, including defining and executing strategic sourcing strategies, project strategies, schedule planning, and proactively managing complex contracts, ensuring value for money and delivery on time while managing subcontractor risk.

About the Role

This is a key position within the LOTE program, responsible for developing and implementing effective procurement strategies to support the program's objectives. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in procurement and contract management, with experience in category management, strategic sourcing, contract management, and contracting principles and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement effective procurement strategies to support the LOTE program's objectives;
  2. Lead the engagement with strategic suppliers and undertake contracting and procurement activity at all levels;
  3. Define and execute strategic sourcing strategies, project strategies, schedule planning, and proactively manage complex contracts;
  4. Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure effective communication and collaboration.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A minimum of 10 years' demonstrated experience in a relevant Supply Chain role in a defence, manufacturing, or resource environment;
  • In-depth knowledge of category management, strategic sourcing, contract management, and contracting principles and best practices;
  • Proven track record of delivering significant cost savings and other business value through the development and implementation of sourcing strategy and plans;
  • Project management skills to manage procurement and contract management activities to agreed timelines and budget restraints;
  • SIGNIFICANT KNOWLEDGE OF CONTRACTUAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS TO MITIGATE LEGAL RISK;
  • Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and business case development.
