Therapeutic Foster Care Specialist

About the roleThis is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

We are seeking a dedicated professional to join our Therapeutic Foster Care program, which provides specialized support for children and young people who have experienced complex trauma, disrupted attachments, and high support needs.

This is not your average case management role. As part of a small, close-knit team, you will work intensively with carers and children to create lasting change.

You will walk alongside young people as they navigate some of life's biggest challenges, helping them move towards healing, stability, and long-term permanency.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position based in Preston within our Out of Home Care Program.

The position reports to the Home Based Care Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide intensive support to carers and children to achieve positive outcomes
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each child or young person
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive support services are provided
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, or related discipline
  • Training and experience in relevant child, adolescent, and family practice and/or case management
  • Well-developed understanding of Attachment and Trauma theories, intellectual disability, and the implications for working with vulnerable populations
  • Extensive experience and demonstrated skills in working with vulnerable children, young people, and families in a trauma-informed way
