About the Role

The successful applicant will work in partnership with consumers, carers, families, and other service providers to provide high-quality clinical services within a recovery-oriented framework. Services provided will be individualized to support recovery and may include individual and group work, assessment and intervention, discharge planning, education for consumers and their families, and liaison with other services and programs as needed.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A degree qualification in social work that has been approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) for practicing membership as a social worker.
  • Eligibility for membership of the AASW.
  • Relevant theoretical knowledge, experience, and skills in the provision of evidence-based social work assessment and treatment in a mental health setting.
  • A comprehensive understanding of, and experience in delivering, recovery-oriented mental health practice.
  • The ability to skilfully engage consumers in the development and implementation of individualized plans designed to promote, foster, and sustain personal recovery.
  • The ability to ensure practice is individualized and adapted in alignment with psychosocial assessment and with each consumer's goals.
  • Skills and experience in undertaking single-session family consultation (SSFC) or a willingness to undertake SSFC training.
  • High-level interpersonal skills with consumers, their families, and all healthcare professionals, including effective conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • A commitment to working with consumers from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds and to providing services that are family and gender sensitive.
  • The ability to collaborate with consumers, carers, the multidisciplinary team, and external agencies.
  • A commitment to supervised and reflective practice, lifelong learning, and further development.
