Job Overview

The AFL is seeking a highly skilled and motivated State Girls Development Coach to lead the development of talented young female footballers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, managing, and leading a talented player pathway program that supports the development and progression of well-prepared young athletes ready for AFL and AFLW football.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a Safe and Inclusive Environment: Create a positive, safe, and supportive development program culture for all participants.
  • Focus on Individual Player Development: Provide individualized support and coaching to help players reach their full potential.
  • Integrate Programs: Collaborate with coaches to integrate programs between girls and boys, sharing knowledge and expertise to enhance player development.
  • Provide Feedback and Analysis: Utilize technology to provide regular feedback, vision edits, game/stats analysis, and reporting in line with AFL Talent Pathway standards.
  • Mentor Coaches: Lead coaching development in the region, supporting community and school coaches to enhance their skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Minimum Level 2 AFL Coaching Accreditation: Hold current certification or have the ability to obtain it within a specified timeframe.
  • Experience Working with Young People: Have experience working with young athletes, preferably in a similar capacity.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Technical Knowledge: Be familiar with IT systems, software applications, and relevant player performance analysis tools.
