You will shape an academic music program at the leading edge of high-performance and innovation, both for Tasmania and nationally.

In reinstating the Conservatorium, you will strengthen partnerships with Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and music organisations statewide, nurturing classical music traditions while fostering contemporary music production and culture.

This position offers a unique opportunity for an exceptional leader to bring vision and deep management capability to shaping the Conservatorium's future and enabling its contribution to excellence, impact, and sustainability.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic, academic, and operational leadership to deliver high-quality education and research, foster a thriving organisational culture, and drive impactful community engagement.
  • Ensure the University's offerings are high quality, distinct, and aligned to strategic goals, regulatory obligations, and sustainability targets.
  • Lead the design and delivery of a compelling, high-quality, and sustainable Bachelor of Music.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with industry, government, and community stakeholders to enhance the Academic Unit's profile and impact.

The Conservatorium is pivotal to a flourishing music ecology reaching all corners of the state—connecting regions and ensuring the immeasurable benefits of making and experiencing music are available to all Tasmanians.

As a seasoned leader, you will be responsible for driving the Conservatorium's growth and renewal, fostering a culture of excellence, and promoting musical excellence throughout Tasmania.

Your expertise will play a critical role in shaping the Conservatorium's future, ensuring its continued success, and enhancing its reputation as a premier music institution.

You will work closely with the University's senior leadership team, academic staff, and external partners to develop and implement strategies that advance the Conservatorium's mission and goals.
