The primary responsibility of the Site EHS Specialist is to oversee field personnel and ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies, programs, procedures, and legislative standards.
Key duties involve communicating and contributing to the development of site-based EHS initiatives, conducting onsite audits and inspections, and providing recommendations for improving EHS performance and fostering a culture of zero harm.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, and communicate the OneEHS project plan.
- Manage safety administration, risk management, EHS training, medical, and security-related issues that may impact personnel or overall site safety.
- Implement company standards and procedures at the site.
- Conduct regular "Tool Box" talks, safety meetings, orientations, and training to ensure employees understand work hazards and maintain records.
- Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and near-miss events to guarantee adherence to Company policy, OSHA regulations, EPA guidelines, DOT requirements, and client/company regulations.
- Collaborate in project planning meetings and Outage Readiness Reviews.
- Ensure deployment of EHS posters and notices.
- Deliver project-specific site orientation training to all personnel under FieldCore control, ensuring employees are informed of safe working procedures and practices.
- Review customer permit systems, including LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Space procedures, and FieldCore Lift Plans.
- Consult with Lead Field Engineer and Customer on potential hazards like Asbestos, Lead, Arsenic, and Hexavalent Chrome.
- Complete the security plan for non-US group I & II countries and verify with the Security Team.
- Provide classroom-based EHS training as required.
- Report site setup information in Gensuite and complete weekly site audits using the computer-based program.
- Manage compliance activities, including in-country legislation and FC EHS programs.
- Escalate accidents and incidents through company processes and procedures.
- Investigate incidents or near-miss events, compiling necessary documentation, analyzing root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
- Conduct inspections and audits, ensuring corrective actions are monitored and documented.
- Submit required EHS reports and maintain accurate recordkeeping.
- Ensure medical preparedness and maintain employee health records.
- Assist in developing and implementing safety risk assessments.
- Adhere to chemical management programs.
- Maintain adherence to EHS policies, local regulations, and EHS company programs.
- Serve as liaison with end customers at the site for safety task planning, site audits, equipment inspections, and PPE checks.
- Communicate injury and illness awareness updates and mitigating measures.
- Conduct internal audits and provide recommendations to improve audit performance.
- Establish positive relationships with site personnel, contractors, and customers.
- Manage documentation related to EHS initiatives and ad hoc programs.
- Identify and eliminate hazards through hazard hunts, reinforcing a No Harm culture.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in an industrial safety-related field or equivalent experience and training.
- OSHA 30 Training completion is mandatory.
- NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Familiarity with in-country safety regulatory requirements is desirable.
- Knowledge of industry risks and hazards, particularly in power generation, is beneficial.
- Proficiency in English language is essential.
