Senior Health and Safety Specialist

This role is focused on delivering a safe working environment for all employees and stakeholders. Based at our office, you will report to the Project Manager and, at a corporate level, to the Health & Safety Manager.
You will be responsible for the ongoing implementation, auditing, and continued improvement of health and safety systems and processes, monitoring compliance, and providing expert knowledge and advice while working in close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities- Provide expert knowledge and advice and collaborate closely with stakeholders on-site;
- Ensure site-based inspections and task observations are completed;
- Ensure project personnel have necessary competencies and complete required documentation for plant and equipment used on-site;
- Maintain up-to-date training and induction records on-site;
- Support on-site incident investigations;
- Offer injury management/rehabilitation services (suitable duties);
- Deliver workplace safety training including inductions, awareness, and site work health and safety training;
- Prepare monthly project statistics and reports;
- Participate in project toolbox and pre-start meetings;
- Provide coaching for health and safety performance improvement;
- Ensure compliance with relevant State and Commonwealth WHS and Environmental Legislation, Australian Standards, and Codes of Practice;
- Identify health and safety risks and develop action plans, implement, and review them;
- Develop safe work and environmental practices to mitigate risk;
- Manage site health and safety subcontractor management.
In this role, you will play a critical part in maintaining a healthy and safe work environment, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, and promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
