Job Title: Reliability Specialist

The primary objective of this role is to provide engineering support in the development and implementation of reliability strategies, ensuring optimal asset performance while maintaining safety standards.


About the Role

This position involves:

  • Ensuring maintenance activities comply with industry regulations and safety protocols.
  • Providing technical assistance in developing and introducing ongoing reliability improvements, aligning with business objectives.
  • Regularly assessing critical asset health through data analysis from various monitoring systems, identifying potential issues or failures.
  • Conducting failure mode analysis to comprehend asset vulnerabilities and potential consequences.
  • Investigating equipment failures using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) techniques, such as the 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, or Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), to determine underlying causes and develop preventive measures.
  • Maintaining oversight of asset conditions and performance through multiple technologies and sensors, interpreting data to inform maintenance decisions.
  • Continuously seeking ways to enhance asset reliability, reduce maintenance expenses, and boost overall asset performance.
  • Leading or contributing to reliability enhancement projects and initiatives, effectively managing resources, timelines, and budgets.
  • Ensuring asset reliability efforts align with environmental sustainability goals, encompassing energy efficiency and emissions reduction.
  • Collaborating with other departments, including operations, engineering, and procurement, to ensure asset reliability objectives harmonize with organizational goals.

Key Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Significant industry-related work experience, preferably in waste management, resource recovery, or manufacturing.
  • Chartered Engineer status with IE Australia (or eligibility for chartered status).
  • Ability to independently evaluate, select, and apply applicable engineering methods and procedures, adhering to relevant Australian Standards.
  • Experience in developing and managing reliability programs for Electrical Equipment.
  • Familiarity with Condition Monitoring and Predictive Maintenance.
  • Prior experience in conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and utilizing risk management tools and techniques (C&E Analysis, FMEA, and Risk Rating).
  • Awareness of SCADA/DCS PLC control systems, control philosophy, alarm management.
  • Background in functional specification development, instrumentation & control equipment selection.
  • Experience participating in HAZOP/CHAZOP reviews.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements related to asset reliability and maintenance.
  • Aquaintance with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) software.
  • Understanding of asset management principles, including ISO 55000 standards.
