
International Nuclear Submarine Construction Specialist

Are you ready to embark on a world-class training experience in the US? As a skilled professional, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge nuclear-powered submarines and develop expertise in high-tech equipment and systems.
The role requires previous experience as a carpenter or woodworker, with an emphasis on flexibility, teamwork, and adaptability. You must also possess Australian citizenship, a current National Police Clearance, and an ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance.
This position involves working on the construction of shipyard production operations, including interpreting drawings, selecting materials, and collaborating with teams to ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications. Upon completion of the training, you will return to Western Australia to carry out planning, management, and maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work from drawings and sketches to erect, maintain, and remove scaffolding in support of shipyard production operations
- Perform quality control inspections on scaffolding parts and materials for integrity
- Construct temporary enclosures and plenums
- Construct shipping skids, templates, and various mockups
- Use transit to sight reference points on the ship as requested
- Build, install, and remove ladders and platforms that support marine equipment and personnel access and egress
- Install and remove temporarily decking used when ships permanent decking is removed
Eligibility Criteria:
- Previous experience as a carpenter or woodworker highly regarded (educational qualification not required)
- Demonstrated experience in an environment with strict process and procedures
- Proven ability to be flexible and an eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
- An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance.
