Test and Commissioning Manager

We are seeking a seasoned Test and Commissioning Manager to join our team at Ignite, the largest provider of multimodal public transport in Australia and New Zealand. As a key member of our Automatic Vehicle Monitoring project, you will be responsible for system integration and conducting system-level tests according to defined test plans and documenting test results, defects, and any deviations from expected outcomes.
About the RoleThis is a contract job for 12 months with excellent daily/hour rates. You will have a hybrid working arrangement, with 2 days spent in our Melbourne CBD office and 3 days working from home. We are looking for someone with a strong background in software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices, as well as experience in systems integration testing, preferably involving operational control systems or similar complex systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on system requirements.
- Conduct end-to-end systems integration tests and identify and document defects.
- Work with the program manager to ensure system integration and testing align with project goals.
- Collaborate with the team to identify and document system requirements and test cases.
- Develop and execute automated test scripts using test automation tools and frameworks.
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certification in software testing is desirable, particularly the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) certification.
- Strong understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
- Experience in systems integration testing, preferably involving operational control systems or similar complex systems.
- Proficient in creating test plans, test cases, and test scripts based on system requirements.
- Experience in executing end-to-end systems integration tests and identifying and documenting defects.
- Familiarity with test automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JUnit) and the ability to develop and execute automated test scripts.
- Solid knowledge of defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Azure DevOps)
