We provide care for hundreds of Young People in Residential Care every year, with a dedicated team of staff and House Coordinators to support our young people.

The role of Residential Youth Worker at AV is a varied and challenging position that requires patience, empathy, and understanding.

You will be working in a large team to support young people who have experienced significant trauma, providing a stable, nurturing environment and helping them develop coping skills and strategies.

This role is perfect for those looking to start their career in the industry or make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.

A competitive salary of $65,000 - $70,000 per annum, plus benefits, is on offer.

Some key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Providing daily care and support to young people in our residential services
  • Working collaboratively as part of a large team to develop and implement individual care plans
  • Helping young people develop life skills and independence
  • Supporting young people in accessing education and employment opportunities
  • Maintaining accurate records and reporting to management

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Certificate IV in Child Youth and Family Intervention or similar
  • Experience working with young people who have experienced trauma
  • An understanding of how trauma can affect the development of young people
  • Solid knowledge of the Child Protection and Welfare system in Victoria
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
