Hydrogeology Professional

We are seeking a skilled Hydrogeology Specialist to provide expert technical advice on mine and rehabilitation activities, ensuring site safety and stability. This role involves leading routine monitoring and analysis, including groundwater routines, weight balance analysis, and data management.

The successful candidate will scope and coordinate drilling activities and technical studies contributing to mine infrastructure rehabilitation and regulatory processes. They will also manage and review consultant designs and proposals, identify geotechnical and hydrogeological hazards, and implement effective risk management controls and response plans.

This is an excellent opportunity to evolve hydrogeological strategies and plans, contribute to the Ground Control Management Plan, and adapt to the dynamic geotechnical environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert technical advice on mine and rehabilitation activities.
  • Lead routine monitoring and analysis, including groundwater routines, weight balance analysis, and data management.
  • Scope and coordinate drilling activities and technical studies.
  • Manage and review consultant designs and proposals.
  • Identify geotechnical and hydrogeological hazards.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need a Tertiary degree in Hydrogeology, Engineering, Geology or a relevant discipline. You should have proven expertise in hydrogeology within a mining context, with a strong grasp of groundwater systems and geotechnical interactions.

In-depth technical understanding of mining operations specific to the Latrobe Valley, familiarity with the regulatory landscape governing mining and environmental management in the region, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-standard hydrogeological software tools are essential.

Additionally, you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
